Jerry Lee Aller, 79, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully with his family at his side following an extended illness at the Center for Hospice Care in Elkhart at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2017.
He was born in Elkhart March 4, 1938, to the late Robert and Frances (Swihart) Aller and later married Carol Colagrossi in Elkhart in April 28, 1962. She survives at home after 55 wonderful years of marriage.
Also surviving are daughters Rhonda Aller of Clearwater, Florida and Stephanie Frandsen of Elkhart; brother Larry (Nancy) Aller of Littleton, Colorado; sister Sharon Blyly of Osceola; and grandson Cameron Lee Frandsen of Elkhart.
Preceding Jerry in death were siblings Richard, Rex, Janet and Joanne.
Jerry worked many years as an area journeyman tool and die maker.
He enjoyed astronomy and star-gazing, but his favorite activity by far was fishing, and it was rumored that he spent more time feeding the fish rather than catching them.
In fact, they say the only reason that fish ever even came around was for the “free” handouts! He was also a proud veteran in the U.S. Air Force.
