Jerry Gregory,86, a long-time Bloomington resident, passed away on August 22, 2017 at his home. He was devoted to family, above all else.

Born, December 5, 1930 in Washington, Indiana, he was the son of the late Norrell and Bertha (Jones) Gregory.

Jerry was a Korean War Veteran, an IU graduate where he earned a Masters Degree in Business and History, and, for over three decades, a History teacher at Plainville and Bloomington High Schools, and Batchelor Middle School. He was also a frequent contributor of letters to the editor in the Herald Times from 1980. From 1973, he was a proud IU basketball season ticket holder.
In addition, he was an expert house painter during his summers, and an incredible pizza-maker, who first learned to make pizza at the Cafe Pizzeria in the mid 1950’s with his two younger brothers, who were all IU students. It was Cafe Pizzeria where he met his loving wife of 57 years, Linda Hinkle.
He was truly a good-hearted man who habitually put others well-being ahead of his own, following the example of his mother.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Gregory, his children, Kyle Gregory (Kimberly) and Dana Frederick (Jerry), his grandchildren, Hannah Frederick, Elizabeth Davis (Kaleb), Jonathan Frederick, Sarah Frederick, Rebekah Gregory, Emily Gregory, and Nicholas Gregory, his brother, Hayden Gregory (Linda), and innumerable other relatives and friends whose lives were made richer by his generous presence. His encouragement and enthusiasm will be greatly missed by many.

Jerry was preceded in death by four brothers, Dick, Phillip, Joe, and Ross Gregory.
