After a long and valiant battle with cancer, Jerry, our beloved husband, dad, grandpa, son, brother, uncle, and friend returned to his Heavenly Father on October 27, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.
Jerry was born on April 5,1959 to Dean and Suzanne Poppleton VanDenakker in Ogden, Utah. Jerry earned the rank of Eagle Scout, he graduated from Bonneville High School, and attended Utah State University. Jerry was a kid at heart who lived life to the fullest. From a young age he had the gift and ability to connect with anyone he met; he never met a stranger. Jerry always had a passion for adventure which included anything outside; golfing, trips to Lake Powell, his dogs, fishing, traveling, riding (and crashing) dirt bikes, riding his Harley Davidson, fireworks, and anything thrilling.
Jerry married the love of his life, Allison Rae Jensen, on April 11,1997, and they were later sealed together as a family for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City LDS temple. Jerry began his career at Herrick Industrial and continued at Blaine Jensen RV and Camping World. He enjoyed going to work every day and loved the “thrill of the deal.” Jerry thrived on being the life of the party and making people laugh. He loved his kids with all his heart and found joy in watching them grow and succeed. Jerry was a proud grandpa and loved spending time with his family. He was an eternal optimist who had the ability to persevere through all of life’s challenges.
Jerry is survived by his adoring wife Allsion, children Chantel (Brendan), Paigely, Madi, Davis, grandson Calven, parents Dean and Suzanne VanDenakker, sister Jodi (Dr. David) Wilding, in-laws Craig and Sheila Jensen, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his nephew Tyson Wilding and grandparents Ira and Helen Stephenson VanDenakker and Edward and Mae Sharp Poppleton.
The family would like to thank all friends and family for their love, support and prayers during this difficult time and in the words of Jerry “live long, and prosper.”
