Jerry E. Bamberg, 83, of Freeport went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 9, 2014 surrounded by family at FHN Memorial Hospital. He was born on December 6, 1930 in Ridott, IL. He was the son of Charles and Bernadine (Judd) Bamberg. He married Marjorie L. Huenefeld on November 20, 1954 at St. John’s Church. Jerry served in the United States Army and was a Veteran of the Korean War. He was self-employed dealing in recycling and scrap metal. After retirement he worked as a paper carrier for several years. Jerry was an active member of Laurel Street Community Church. Jerry enjoyed spending time with his family, especially all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren and his church family. Jerry is survived by his wife Marjorie of Freeport, one daughter Sharon Bamberg (Dave Triem) of Freeport, four sons, Larry (Allison) of Cullman, AL; Jeff (Peggy) of Poynette, WI; Steve (Chris) of Freeport, and Dean Bamberg of Madison, WI; 13 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one sister Rose Lizer, one brother Charlie (Jean) Bamberg and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson Ben.
