Jerry DeWayne “Coug” Vore, 76, of St. Cloud, FL, formerly of Peoria Heights, passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2018, at St. Cloud Regional Medical Center. Mr. Vore was born on January 21, 1941, in Pawhuska, OK to Glen and Mary (Waddle) Vore.

He was a 1959 graduate of Sparland High School.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving from 1960-1963, achieving the rank of Airman First Class. He attended the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO, and was stationed in Colorado and Washington D.C. during the Vietnam War. After his service, he attended Bradley University. He worked at Pabst in Peoria until they closed and then went back to school for heating and air conditioning. He moved to Florida and successfully operated his own air conditioning business. He was a member of the American Legion and the Commander’s Club of the Disabled American Veterans. Mr. Vore was a very intelligent man. He enjoyed anything associated with science and space and was a voracious reader. In earlier years, he enjoyed hunting and playing in the Vore Brothers Band with his brother, Don. He was a loving family man and especially cared for his siblings, nieces, and nephews.

Survivors include his former wife, Sally Gojon; two step-sons, Jack and Jeff Gojon; his sister, Glynlen (John) Mateika of LaSalle; his brother, Donald (Sylvia) Vore of East Peoria; five nieces and nephews, Chuck Dawson, Kelly Vore, Corey Mobley, Stephenie Lunger, and Donald Glenn Vore, several step-nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Lobo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one niece, Stacy Morr, and one nephew, Eric Dawson
