Born in Rowan County on December 7, 1959, he was the son of Anne Yount Lentz and the late Jerry Long Lentz.
Mr. Lentz was a 1978 graduate of West Rowan High School. He received his auto mechanic, machine, and welding degree from Rowan Cabarrus Community College. He was gifted with many talents of machinery and welding and offered help to many.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Debra Foster Lentz, whom he married on November 21, 1981 and his mother, Anne Yount Lentz.
