WINSTED – Jerry C. Groman, Sr., 81, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 16, 2020. He was the loving husband of Joyce (Fines) Groman for 54 years. Born September 21, 1938 in Winsted; the son of the late Chester and Florence (Ratigan) Groman. Born and raised in Winsted and proudly served in the U.S. Air Force. Jerry enjoyed fishing, playing cards and his land in Colebrook. He loved watching his grandchildren play sports and spending time with family and friends. Jerry was a kind, generous person that would do anything for anyone. He also loved all dogs. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Jerry (Tracy) Groman, Jr., of Colebrook and Jeff (Kathy Balch) Groman of Torrington; grandchildren, Jesse, Ryan and Nora, all of Colebrook, Kyle of Winsted and Courtney of FL; great grandchildren, Reese of FL and Peter of Torrington; all “adopted” grandchildren lovingly cared for by Joyce and Jerry over the years; two brothers, Albert Groman and Robert Groman, both of Winsted; sister, Nancy Spring of Winsted; and niece and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Roger Groman and Donald Groman.
