Mr. Jerome Lukas, age 91, of Milford, beloved husband of 49 years to the late Mildred A. Chernock Lukas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 13, 2009 at Milford Healthcare.
Son of the late Joseph and Anna Koczan Lukas, he was born in New York on May 28, 1918. He was a long time resident of Milford, growing up on the family farm. Jerome was a graduate of Milford H.S. class of 1936. After graduation he then served with pride and honor in the U.S. Army during WWII. Jerome was a Staff Sergeant with the Second Armory Tank Brigade. Some of his campaigns included Africa, Sicily, Normandy and the Rhineland. He was a graduate of the former Arnold College, in Milford, and was an Electrical Engineer at Schick Corporation before his retirement in l983. Jerome, along with his wife Mildred, was active in the Milford Senior Center. He was an avid gardener.
Survivors include his four devoted children, Robert Lukas and his wife Susan of Milford, Thomas Lukas and his wife Patricia of Califon, NJ, Patricia Bouge and her husband John of Vienna, VA, and Susan Lucas and her husband Harold of Woodsville, NH; five grandchildren, Kristin and Kathryn Lukas, of Milford, Stacey, Alyssa and Darrick Lucas all of NH; two great-grandchildren, Kalyn and Kensye Cocchia of Milford; a brother Walter Lukas, of NV. He was predeceased by a brother, Peter Lukas.
