Jerome Fitzgerald aka “Jerry” was born in Cleveland, OH on July 6, 1958.  Mr. Fitzgerald transitioned on September 5, 2022, at North Alabama Medical Center in Florence, Alabama. He was the third of four children. His mother, Nellie Pearl Fitzgerald, sister, Beverly and brother, Dewayne, preceded him in death.

He was baptized at Washington Avenue Church of Christ, previously located in Moulton, AL and was very active until he was no longer able to drive.

He attended school in the Cleveland and East Cleveland School Systems through the 10th grade. He moved to Oakville, AL where he graduated from Speake High School in 1978.

He joined the U.S. Navy in the early 1980’s and was honorably discharged as a disabled veteran. One of his proudest moments was having the privilege of marching in front of President Ronald Reagan.

Jerry was a very talented  man and enjoyed fishing, football, basketball, playing the guitar and photography. He loved shopping at Walmart and spent a lot of time riding to Walmart in his mobile chair.

Through many decades of Dialysis and other health issues, Jerry never complained. He was kind and very generous. He was the strongest man through it all.

Jerry leaves to cherish his memory: one son, Jeremy Orr; two grandchildren, Jordan and Brianna Fagan; one sister, Yolanda “Sharon” Fitzgerald of Cleveland, OH; one niece, Saquetta Moore of Cleveland, OH; two nephews, Adonis D. Fitzgerald, Sr. and Damon Fitzgerald; a host of other relatives and friends.
