Jerea Ramie Ford was born October 25, 2005 in Columbus, Ohio at Grant Medical Center to mother Twylia Ford-Bradley and father Antoine Bradley Sr. Jerea earned her heavenly wings on Friday August 7, 2020.
Jerea began her journey with attending Weinland Park Elementary until transferring to Africentric Early College where she was a 9th grader.Jerea was a member of Resurrection Power C.O.G.I.C where she accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior. Jerea’s main focus was always on being close to her family and was always most excited when she knew there was a family function occurring. Jerea would always be first to wake up and get ready to leave so that she could be on her way to socialize with her cousins, especially her cousin DeJae. Jerea was an amazing caregiver and would help anyone in need. There was no greater pride to Jerea than caring for her nephew, niece and younger sister. Jerea left no task incomplete making sure things were done in a timely fashion. Her level of intelligence was undeniable and she rarely shared her likes or interest which made it more of a challenge to discipline her by things that could be taken away being limited. Jerea had a love and passion for food and cooking. At 11 years old she would go into the kitchen and cook fried chicken, green beans, and mashed potatoes for the entire family. Jerea knew how to influence any and everyone around her by having side conversations only her and the person she was talking with knew about.
On May 20, 2019, Jerea was admitted to Nationwide Children’s Hospital where she was diagnosed with hydrocephalus and a malignant Germ Cell tumor on the brain.Throughout our stay Jerea was faced with many challenges which she fought through daily. As I watched my baby girl throughout our nine month stay, I witnessed her suffer pain as well as many moments of happiness too. Even when I saw the pain my baby was going through I was happy because she was still here with us. Though Jerea was ill she still managed to push her personality through it all and teach us the true definition of perseverance and walking by faith as a child of god.
Jerea was preceded in death by her brother Antoine Bradley Jr, great grandmothers Verba Benjamin (William), Shirley Bradley and Emma Ford, Aunt Resheena Childs, and Uncle RoShawn Benjamin. Survived by mother Twylia Bradley, father Antonie Bradley Sr., grandparents Willia Mae Benjamin, Cheryl Bradley, James (Denise) Ford. Sisters Shylia Ford-Franks, Teriana Sparks-Bradley, Xylia Ford, Knakyla Bradley, Sanah Ford. Brothers Jerome Ayers, Da’Sean Sparks-Bradley and Le’Marion Williams. Aunts Deja Benjamin (Roman Taylor), Simone Benjamin, Danielle Benjamin, Dewayna Benjamin, Nikki Bradley. Special Uncle Akie Benjamin. Special cousin DeJae Blades and godmother JioVanni Apple Benjamin and a host of relatives and friends
I would like to give a big thanks to Nationwide Children’s Hospital for being so amazing to our family and a special thanks to Jordan Walter, Amy Young, Wendy Rogers and Eliscia Wisner with Physical and Occupational Therapy, Audrey Shifflet with Speech Therapy, and Marcie who is with Social work just to name a few of the undeniably compassionate staff. Though we are all grieving we should all come together and celebrate the person Jerea was and allow her joyful and caring personality and spirit to live on through all of us.
