Jenny L. Austin, an “Angel on Earth” was given her heavenly wings at the age of 66, on August 2, 2022, at the St. Vincent Heart Center in Carmel.

Jenny was born August 12, 1955, in Lafayette to the late John M. and Anna Elizabeth (Young) Austin. She was a graduate of Rossville High School. Always wanting to help people, Jenny attended Ivy Tech where she received her certification as a Paramedic, beginning her 43-year career of service to the people of Tippecanoe County. On May 4, 1990, Jenny married her best friend, Bruce E. Snider. Bruce preceded her in death on December 11, 2021.

Jenny was so many things to so many people, she was so much more than a title and mere words can not begin to describe her.   As the first female Paramedic in Tippecanoe County, Jenny had saved and cared for thousands of lives and never stopped caring for those around her, even after retirement. She was everything that is good about humanity in one package. She was selfless and gave every second of her life to others.  When she was not at work, she cherished time spent with her family and traveling.  She enjoyed trips to Hawaii, Ireland, and Disneyworld. Known as “Mamma Jenny,” she was the glue that held her family together and a mentor to her work family. She was loved and will be missed by so many.  The world truly lost an angel the day that she went to Heaven.

She is survived by her family, Jerry (Debbie) Austin, Jane Clark, Jimmy (Lisa) Austin, Jeffery (Cindy) Austin,  Elizabeth (Joe) Rotar, Nichole (Kyle) Pearson, Krista (Dustin) Niglio, Lynn (Ryan) Holloway, Jason (Samantha Monnier) Austin, Bruce “Tony” (April) Snider, Kimberly Phillips, Natalie Boone, Baileigh Pearson, Sarah Rotar, Meghan Pearson, Bryce Austin, Samantha Rotar, Laura Holloway, Abigail Pearson, Joseph Rotar, Austin Niglio, Nathaniel Holloway, Kason Austin, Tabbatha Snider, Sierra Maxwell, Cedar Snider, Bryce Snider, Devin Phillips, Maddie Phillips, Charlee McCormack, Kai McCormack, Easton Maxwell, and Aliyah Maxwell. We also can not forget her First Responders and EMS family as well as all other extended family and friends.

Jenny will be laid to rest with her husband Bruce at Rest Haven Memorial Park, 1200 Sagamore Parkway North, Lafayette, IN 47904.
