Jennifer Jones Swoopes was born in Lawrence County, AL on September 26, 1954 to Carl L. Jones Sr. and Pearl Ella Hampton-Jones. She departed this life on February 6, 2012 at Huntsville Hospital.
Jennifer was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Carl E. Jones and aunt, Annie Pearl Hampton.
Jennifer accepted Christ at an early age and joined the First Missionary Baptist Church of Courtland, AL under the leadership of Rev. O. C. Neloms.
Jennifer leaves to cherish her memory: one daughter, Cassandra Jones of Decatur; one son, Lamont (Erica) Jones of Decatur; four brothers, Jackson (Marcella) Jones and James Orr both of Courtland; Bruce Jones of Decatur and Joseph Pointer of Cleveland, OH; four sisters, Scherrie Nicole (Paul) Mason whom she raised as a daughter, and Helean Jones both of Courtland, Elisa Pointer and Margaret Pointer both Cleveland, OH; six grandchildren, Whitney, Terrell, Mercedes, Teonta, Nigel and Jayven; four uncles, Willie (Dorothy) Hampton, Flem Otis (Dorothy) Hampton all of Courtland, William Jones of Akron, OH and Tommy (Lillie) Hampton of Hillsboro; five aunts, Millie Ann Pruitt and Mattie Miller both of Hillsboro, Molly (Johnny) Orr, and Rosie Pearl Hampton all of Courtland and Helen (Otis) Goode of Decatur; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
