Jennie Rose Stanis Kachanis, 90, Anderson, died August 5, 2005 at Bethany Pointe Health Campus-Anderson after an extended illness. She was born February 2, 1915 in Pautucket, Rhode Island, and lived in Rhode Island before her husband’s career brought her to Indiana in 1959. At 38 she returned to school and became an LPN. She worked as a surgical technician at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island and later at St. John’s Hospital in Anderson from which she retired. She did beautiful needlework, gardened and enjoyed baking her signature pies. She is survived by her two daughters, Joanne & husband Frank Figge of Anderson and Marilyn & husband Robert Quaid of Santa Ana, California; five grandchildren, Cynthia & husband Brian Lindemann, Kristin & husband John Freije, Paul Figge & fiancee Marilyn Cole, Andrea Quaid and Nichole Quaid; and five great grandchildren. Her family greatly appreciates the kindness, loving care and support she found at Bethany Pointe. She was preceded by her husband of 68 years, Raymond P. Kachanis in 2001 and her parents, Anthony & Helen Ukoronis Stanis. Cremation will take place. Celebrations of Life and an interment service in Rhode Island will be held at later dates.
