Jennie M. (Armatruda) Slusaw, 90, of Fountain Hill, passed away peacefully on Tuesday January 29, 2019, while in the care of the St. Luke’s Hospice House. She was the loving wife of the late Peter J. Slusaw, who passed away on January 17, 2001. Born in Bethlehem, she grew up on Mechanic Street on the South Side. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (DiStasio) Armatruda. Jennie worked as a seamstress for the former Lehigh Dress, and Panzell companies. She was a parishioner of the former Our Lady of Pompeii Church, where she was a volunteer for the annual Christmas Bazaar. Currently she was a parishioner of St. Ursula’s Church in Fountain Hill. She was known for her amazing cooking and baking. Jennie enjoyed sitting on her front porch and chatting with passer by’s. She also loved spending time with her family.

SURVIVORS: She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Lisa A. Reade of Fountain Hill, and her companion Michael Laughlin; son Brian C. Slusaw and his wife Tracey of Lower Macungie; former son-in-law Mark Reade; grandchildren Chelsey Reade, Aimee Friedrich, Blake, Madylin, Zachary, and Carly; great grandchildren Vinny, Matthew, Emma, and Verena; sister Annie Merwarth of Mount Dora, FL. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings Josephine Buttillo, Rose Petro, Louise Catalano, Lucy McDermott, Mae Batista, Pat Armatruda, Joseph Amatruda, and Frank Armatruda.
