Longtime Albuquerque resident Jennie Lou Brown (nee Gibbons) was born on Friday, March 2, 1923 and passed peacefully on Monday, November 22, 2021 after an extended illness.
Jennie was born in Elkhart, KS in the middle of a family of seven children. She had vivid memories of the “Dustbowl Days” of the Great Depression and World War II. Jennie met her husband, Lee through her brother, and were married on July 30, 1941. The nature of Lee’s work required they move frequently before settling in Albuquerque around 1952. They bought their South Valley home in 1958.
Jennie was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Perry Lee Brown; as well as her twin sister, Fannie; brothers, Ross, Lester, and Rex; sisters, Lena and Arlene; and adopted son, Guy Ross. She is survived by her daughter, Ronda Jackson and husband, Rusty, their children, Jesse (wife Trista) and Dion; her son, Ronald Brown and wife, Pam, and their children Gary and Greg; and grandson Gavin. She was also a proud great-grandmother to seven and great-great grandmother to four. Surviving sisters-in-law include Lena (Tiny) Gibbons and Rexanna Kearney (husband Wendell); and numerous special nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice Compassus for their heartfelt end of life care.
