Jennie Ellen Hammock, age 85, went quietly and peacefully to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 15, 2008, at Destin Health Care and Rehabilitation in Destin, Florida.

 

Mrs. Hammock was born on September 6, 1922, in Zortman, Montana, to J.W. and Jennie Allred. She was raised in Boyton, Oklahoma, until she joined the Army/Air Corps in 1943. She proudly served her country until she met and married the love of her life, Hardy Lee Hammock, Jr., in 1945. Mr. Hammock made a career of the Army and together they traveled all over the United States and the world until his retirement to Fort Walton Beach in 1967.

 

Mrs. Hammock was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord with all her heart. She was a homemaker and devoted wife to her husband for 60 years until his death in 2005. She suffered from Alzheimer’s disease in the latter years of her life.

 

She is survived by her children, Dianna Weigman (Edward) of Tuscaloosa, AL, Mary Robitaille (Michael) of Albuquerque, NM; daughter-in-law, Pat Hammock of Hayfield, MN; eight grandchildren, Brian Hammock (Laura), Rebecca Hammock, Jennie Naylor (Scott), Amy Baygents (Michael), Reana Robbins (Brian), Gabrielle Robitaille, Nicole Robitaille, Michelle Robitaille; and five great-grandchildren, Kelly Jones, Haley Capps, Camryn Capps, Seth Baygents and Sam Baygents. Also surviving are her sister, June Smith (Odie); sisters-in-law, Margaret Hammock, Betty King (Kenneth), Louise Vale and Connie Hammock, special close neighbor, Raymond Vick, plus numerous nieces, nephews and close friends.

 

Besides her husband, Hardy Lee Hammock, Jr., she was preceded in death by her son, Hardy Lee Hammock III.
