Jemima (McCormick) Rowe was born on March 10, 1923 in the small village of Kelloholm, Scotland and passed away on May 16, 2015 in Bakersfield, California. Jemima immigrated to the United States with her parents, John and Annie McCormick, in 1926. The young family settled in Oildale where her father found employment with Standard Oil Co. of California (Chevron.) Jemima attended Standard Elementary, Bakersfield High, Bakersfield College and in 1944 graduated with her teaching degree from San Jose State College.
