Cavalier and gallant, judicious and impervious, nurturing and protecting, Jeffrey Samuel Mintz, 50, died April 10, 2014 at home with his loving family. Born on December 11, 1963 in Livermore, California to Michael D. Mintz and Enid D. Baker, both meeting him now at heaven’s gate. Jeff grew up in Edison, New Jersey, but home was in the mountains of Colorado. He was an alum of J.P. Stevens High School in Edison, of CSU Ft. Collins in Political Science, and of Samford University Law with his J.D. Jeff was licensed and practiced law in New Jersey, New York and Colorado. Owner of two local businesses, Griffin Sports Bar & Grill and Knosh’s Deli; Jeff touched many lives and made many friends. He “loved making people smile with good food”. It was at Knosh’s that you would find Jeff chatting up the customers, with his wife Kimberly and their girls “helping dad” in the kitchen. Jeff was an inspiration everyone around him as a gladiator against cancer. An avid outdoorsman, he loved big-game hunting and deep sea fishing. Big Elk and Giant Tuna made his adrenalin rush. He was an active supporter of the Orchard of Hope and was a volunteer fireman with the Griffin Ranch Volunteer Fire Department. He is survived by his wife Kimberly and their children Micha and Kayleigh, and step-children Kamri and Andrew; his three sisters Debbie Cramer, Penni Vera, and Lisa Tenenbaum; and his best friend and brother Anthony Meluso from his college days, and his life-long brother and best friend Kevin Richmond since their days in strollers, and his life-long “Bubba” Pete Chang.
