JEFFREY DAVID SMITH, age 44, of Monroe Street, Grafton, left this world, surrounded by his loving family, Thursday, July 29, 2010, at his residence, after fighting a courageous battle, to spend his eternal life in heaven. He was born in Fairmont, WV, June 2, 1966, a son of Judy (Areford) Wolfe and husband Jim, of Grafton and David F. Smith and wife Erma, of Owingsville, KY.
His wife, Regina A. (Rector) Smith also survives; they were united in marriage December 15, 2008.
In addition to his parents and wife he is survived by: two sons, Justin David Smith and fiance’ Ashley Weaver, and Joshua D. Smith; two daughters, Janele R. Smith, and Jessica D. Smith, all of Grafton; one sister, Tamara R. “Tammy” (Smith) Bartlett and husband Richard “Butch” Bartlett, of Lucretia; one step-brother, Brian Wolfe and wife Melody, of Raleigh, NC; two step-sisters, Pam (Wolfe) Hostler and husband Shawn, of Grafton, and Tracy Cook and husband Cameron, of Raleigh, NC; many very special nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins that meant the world to him. Jeff was happily anticipating the birth of his first grandchild, a girl, whose chosen name, is Jaylea B. Smith.He was preceded in death: by his paternal grandparents, Harry and Lillie Smith; and his maternal grandparents Dorsey and Dot Cathell.
Jeff graduated from Fairmont High School in 1984, but had attended Grafton High School. He was a self employed carpenter and operated Smith Construction. Jeff enjoyed hunting, fishing and all sports, especially golf. He liked to work on his Ford truck and was an avid Mountaineer fan. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
