Jeffrey Alan Ross, 55, of Raccoon Run near Salem, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 as a result of an industrial accident at his place of employment, GrafTech.
He was born September 20, 1956 in Clarksburg, WV, son of Mary K Haught Ross Post of Cherry Camp; and the late Robert L Ross. Jeff is survived by his high school sweetheart, Debra Devericks Ross whom he married on July 12, 1974. In addition to his wife and mother he is survived by two daughters , Andria Ross Howard, Salem, and Jana Shepard and husband Jeff, O’Fallon, MO; three grandchildren Logan Ross, Natash Deck, and Freddy Deck all of Salem; brother and sister-in-law Lynn and Mary Ross, sister and brother-in-law Kay and Bill Olivito all of Salem, mother-in-law Lucille Devericks, Salem; sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws Glenn and Donna Snider , Lake Floyd and Steve and Dinah Hannah, Jane Lew; two special nephews Michael Ross and his wife Mary Beth, Pawleys Island, SC and Ben Ross, Salem; numerous other nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by stepfather Richard Post as well as his father-in-law, Billy Devericks; grandparents, OC and Blanche Taylor Haught; Everett and Ina Dennison Ross
Jeff graduated from Liberty High School in 1974. He formerly worked at National Machinery. In 1987, Jeff and Debbi bought into Tri Star Communications, a tower company, building and maintaining communication and cellular towers in WV and surrounding states. After closing the business in 2006, he worked at Swanson Plating and was currently working at GrafTech as a machinist. He was very proud of obtaining his journeyman electricians license during the recession in 2008-2009.
He was a loving husband, father, brother and son. Jeff and Debbi loved to spend time at their camp at Red Creek near Dolly Sods with family and friends. Jeff along with his brother, nephews and friends, built a cabin on his grandfather’s home place on Brushy Fork. They loved to deer and squirrel hunt, competition was fierce for the most squirrels or the biggest buck. Jeff was a very special person, whose quick wit and sense of humor will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
