Jeffrey Lynn McCartney, age 67, of Tipton, passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2022. Jeff was born on April 24, 1955, in Kokomo, Indiana to his parents, Paul & Ramona McCartney. On August 15, 1975, Jeff married the love of his life, Cheryl Dotson. They shared 47 wonderful years of marriage, raising two amazing boys, and creating a lifetime of memories together.
Jeff attended Hayworth High School in Kokomo. After school, he worked for Nu Tec Roofing, from where he retired.
Jeff really enjoyed being outdoors amongst nature. He could often be found fishing, gardening, riding his bicycle, scrapping, and simply enjoying his time outside. One of his favorite pastimes was hunting morel mushrooms! He would even use his vacation at just the right time so he could hunt mushrooms all day. Jeff was known for his skills as an animal whisperer, he always had a special connection to animals whether it was a beloved dog or a pet fish. He loved music, especially 60’s & 70’s rock.
Jeff was a very dedicated husband, dad, and papaw. His family meant more to him than anything else and they never had to doubt it because he showed them every day. He was incredibly funny with a great sense of humor. He was always the first one to step in and help anyone that needed it. Jeff was a friend to all he met, he truly loved everyone, and never held a grudge. Jeff was a fighter! He fought cancer and beat it. He was so dedicated to his granddaughters that he would watch them during the day when he was going through chemotherapy, and they were none the wiser that he may not have felt his best. The words to best describe Jeff are strong, simple, and everything to his family. He will be truly missed.
Those left to carry on Jeff’s legacy of love are his wife, Cheryl McCartney; sons, Nathan Alan McCartney and Jason Scott McCartney; grandchildren, Riley McKay McCartney, Payton Kennedy McCartney, and a little baby girl on the way in February; siblings, Russell McCartney of NE, Greg McCartney of FL, John McCartney of FL, Danny McCartney of NE, Billy McCartney of KS, Ron Toth of Kokomo, Russel Toth of Lafayette, Helen Fife of FL; fur baby, Gabby; as well as many nieces and nephews.
