Passed away on Saturday morning, January 23, 2016 at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence in Kalamazoo. He was born on July 4, 1949 in Milwaukee, WI, the son of Jack and Doris (Schendel) Van Alstine. On July 3, 1971, Jed was married to the former Sandra J. Opetz.
He was a veteran of the United States Army. Jed earned a Bachelor’s degree from University of Wisconsin. He was employed by IBA Health Plans (now United Healthcare) for 15 years, until his retirement. Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Sandra Van Alstine; their daughter, Margaret (Glenn) Megaree of Canton, MI and mother, Doris Van Alstine of Green Bay, WI. Preceding him in death were his father and brother, Kurt Van Alstine.
