Jeannine O’Connor, 88, of East Palatka, passed from this life on Sunday, December 5, 2021, at Solaris Health Care – Palatka. A native and lifelong resident of Palatka, she was a 1951 graduate of Mellon High School. Jeannine attended Florida State University and graduated from the University of North Florida with her bachelor’ Degree in Social Work.
A very active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Palatka, Jeannine served as an elder, circle leader, and as president of the Women’s Organization. While attending FSU, she was a member of the Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority (AOPI). Jeannine was a master tree farmer and was awarded tree farmer of the year in 1990. She was also a member of the Palatka Yacht Club and a volunteer with Hospice, Habitat for Humanity, and at Putnam Memorial Nursing Home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, D.D. Jeffords and Mary Miller Jeffords and 2 sisters, Patricia Flanders and Elizabeth Philips.
Jeannine is survived by her husband of 68 years, Charles Eugene “Gene” O’Connor, Jr., a son, Chuck O’Connor (Patricia) of Interlachen, a daughter, Carolyn Marlowe (Robert) of New Port Richey, 3 grandchildren, Karl O’Connor, Jennifer Bowen (David) and Steven Marlowe (Aiko) and 8 great-grandchildren.
