Jeannie Hatcher Lewis, age 68, passed away on Monday, August 17, 2015.  She was born in Winston Salem, N.C., to the late Lather Hatcher and Pirlee Hatcher on September 20, 1946, and had been a Lakeland resident since 1957.

Jeannie graduated from Lakeland High School before attending and graduating from the University of South Florida with a BS in Sociology and Elementary Education.

Jeannie’s main passions were her family and friends.  Her secondary passions were travel and beaches.  Jeannie’s desire for travel began when her parents took her to live in Cuba when she was a small child.  She lived in Cuba for a few years while her father worked there in a textile factory.  She was able to combine her love of travel and beaches by going on cruises.  In addition to Caribbean cruises, Jeannie took a cruise to South America, Alaska, and down the Mississippi.  Her most meaningful cruise was a Caribbean cruise she took with both of her children and their families.

Jeannie is survived by her sons Christopher Lewis (Crystal) of Valrico, Florida, and Michael Lewis (Stacy) of Lakeland, Florida; and her four grandchildren Andrew Lewis (Amy) of Lakeland, Florida, Lindsey Lewis of Lakeland, Florida, Zachary Lewis of Valrico, Florida, and Evan Lewis of Valrico, Florida.
