Jeannette W. Thompson 93, of Boise, died October 28, 2010.
Jeannette was born in Essex, Iowa to James (Marshall) and Lillian Weidman on March 19, 1917. Jeannette was the oldest of four girls. Her surviving sisters are Carol Harsin of Hayden, Idaho, and Muriel Kiser of Ashland, Oregon. Growing up Jeannette enjoyed 4-H, Campfire Girls and her school work. She graduated from Two-Buttes Colorado High School in 1935 and entered Colorado State College of Education in Greeley. She transferred to Southern Oregon Normal School in Ashland to be with her family who moved to Oregon in 1937, hoping for a new start after losing their property during the Dust Bowl years.
Her marriage to Frank C. Thompson in 1938 interrupted her dream of obtaining a college degree. Frank and Jeannette had three children and followed Bureau of Reclamation construction projects in Arizona, Washington, Oregon and California. Finally, after the long family timeout period she proudly completed her degree in elementary teacher education at Southern Oregon College in husband Frank passed away in 1962 and Jeannette spent the next 35-years in Corvallis, OR, moving to Boise, ID in 1998.
Jeannette was a substitute teacher, a gardener, avid reader, watercolor artist, seamstress, and community volunteer. She especially enjoyed her years in Corvallis in an art class helping at the Senior Center.
Survivors include; Son Frank (Marshall) and wife Linda Thompson, in Boise, daughter Patricia Thomson, Corvallis, OR, and daughter Susan and husband Gary Deatherage, of Roseville, CA. There are also 8-grandchildren, 15-great-grandchildren, and 3-great-great grandchildren.
