Jeannette Clair Bonck, 61 years old, died on Monday, February 9, 2015. The cause was complications due to Multiple Sclerosis, a cursed disease with which she had dealt with brilliantly and with great humor for 28 years. She died peacefully surrounded by family, friends and devoted professional caregivers.
Born on August 16, 1953 in New Orleans, where she lived her whole life, she worked for several years as a manager in the family garment business and devoted herself to the role of Mother and Aunt to blood relatives and “extra” children alike until her illness robbed her of her rightful matriarchal status. Jeannette was a wise sponsor to many in the world of AA and was proud of her 20+ years of sobriety.
Survivors include her daughter, Dominique Douroux Adams, her granddaughters, Isabel and Zoe Adams, her son, Rene’ Douroux, their father, Armand Douroux, her parents Jeanne and JH Bonck, Jr., her siblings, John Harry, Jolie, Jamie, Jay and Jeffery Bonck, many nieces and nephews, friends and her devoted caregiver, Mary DeBose.
