Jeannette “Nette” B. Powell Dunn left this earth as gracefully as she lived her life on July 10, 2015. Jeannette was born in Sylvester, GA, on Apr. 4, 1923, to Curtis Brown Bennett and Hattie Bell Alderman Bennett.  She grew up in Sylvester, and married Henry E. Powell in Dec. 1941. They moved to Fort Walton Beach in June of 1956 with their three daughters.

Jeannette was a true southern lady who was the epitome of grace, kindness, and love. Nette always welcomed family and friends into her home with open arms and let them stay as long as they needed.  She will be remembered for her quick wit which kept everyone laughing. As an avid reader, she always had a book to share. Jeannette was a source of inspiration and learning for her grandchildren, once growing cotton in her front garden to provide them with the unique experience of picking cotton.  In 1983, Jeannette married Percy Dunn and enjoyed many years with their expanded family. They loved adventure and traveled much of the world delighting in new places and cultures.

Jeannette was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Thomas and Curtis Bennett; sisters, Ruth Harris and Louise Goldenberg; husband of 35 years, Henry E. Powell; husband of 19 years, Percy W. Dunn; daughter, Linda Powell Wilks; grandson, Michael McCombs and granddaughter, Ann McCombs Tillman.

Jeannette is survived by daughters Rebecca McCombs (Bill), Joyce Modica (Ed); grandchildren, Lori Wilks Miller (Henry), Jack Wilks, Jr. (Marlo), Lisa Wilks Overman (Fred), James McCombs, Jr (Rosa), Leah Modica Biggs (Greg), and Justin Modica; 13 great grandchildren; five great, great grandchildren, and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.  

The family extends special gratitude to Dr. Reed Harned, the staff of Belvedere Commons, and Emerald Coast Hospice.
