Jeannette Almeda Buck, age 97, passed away on July 20, 2021, in Kalamazoo, MI.

Jeannette was born September 28, 1923 in Greenville, MS, the daughter of Ansel and Leona (Thompson) Epperson. She has been a Kalamazoo area resident since 1983 and worked for Bell Telephone for over 30 years retiring as supervisor of service representatives. Jeannette was a member of Pioneers of Bell Telephone, Altrusa Club, Beta Sigma Phi; and had volunteered at Bronson Hospital for many years.

While successfully navigating 97 years, some of her proudest and most memorable moments include working her way up from an entry position at Bell Telephone to a fulfilling managerial position which she held for many years. Another memory was manning the telephone switchboard in New Orleans on Pearl Harbor Day, December 7, 1941, where, as she often said, “the switchboard lit up like a Christmas tree”. She was also especially proud of being a cancer survivor later in life.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Robert (Gloria) Epperson and Wilson (Jean) Epperson; a sister Eve Epperson MacIntosh.

Surviving are two sons: David (Lynne) Buck and Robert (Jackie) Buck; four grandchildren: James (Charo) Buck, Jennifer (Jeremy) Haubold, Anna Buck and Audrey Buck; seven great-grandchildren: Jimmy Buck, Jake Buck, Jaxon Buck, Matthew Haubold, Noah Haubold, Caroline Haubold and Emma Haubold; a brother John Norris (Betty) Epperson; and several nieces and nephews.
