On Sunday, March 28, 2021, our beloved Mother, Jeanne (Douthitt) Morris departed this life at the age of 93 at Mt. Carmel East Hospital and entered into eternal rest.

Jeanne was born on June 15, 1927 in Columbus, Ohio. She was born to James and Vanzilla Douthitt.

Jeanne was united in holy matrimony to Frank Morris on November 6, 1945. To this union, nine children were born.

Jeanne was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend to her family. Her family came first with her. Her dad always told her and her siblings how important family was and how they should always help one another. Those same words she passed on and instilled in her children. In addition to love of her family, was the love and support for the black race. Whenever she needed any “handyman” work done, she contacted family first, then looked to the black race to help. She always paid extra dollars for work because she thought it was important to show people they were valued.

From childhood, Jeanne was a member of the Lee Avenue United Methodist Church in the American Addition. She knew the Lord Jesus Christ. In 1988, she retired from AT&T (Western Electric) as a cashier in the cafeteria. She loved playing cards, traveling and attending family functions.

Jeanne is survived by her children: Constance Ghee (Ruben-deceased), Marcia Morris, Frankielynn Garner (Andre), Christine Cooper (Curtis, Sr.), Stacy Morris and Stephanie Morris. Brother: Weldon Douthitt, Sisters: Juanita McFadden (Melvin) and Alfreda Nichols. She has 17 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents James and Vanzella Douthitt, her husband Frank Morris, Sr., her sons: Frank Morris, Jr. and Gregory Morris, Daughter, Cynthia Daniels (Benjamin-deceased), her sister: Althenia Cooper, brothers: Clifford Brown, James Douthitt, William Douthitt, Wesley Douthitt and Lester Douthitt.
