  • Date Of Birth: October 7, 1960
  • Date Of Death: April 19, 2017
  • State: Colorado

Born in Little Falls, Morrison County, Minnesota on October 7, 1960, and was called into her eternal rest at age 56 with her husband, Thomas Jan “Tom” Carter, at her side on Wednesday afternoon, April 17, 2017 at the Platte Valley Medical Center in Brighton, Colorado. She had suffered from multiple medical conditions for about half of her entire life. She was the daughter of Joseph “Joe” Kowalczyk and Shirley (Potvin) Kowalczyk. Jeanne was the fourth child in a family of five brothers and sisters. Fiercely loyal to family, neighbors, and friends. Jeanne had so much love to give to others and to her dog companions, Duke, Frankie and Tucker through the years. Most important of all, she loved her lord and prayed often. Jeanne was first married to Timothy McClintock, a US Marine Corps member, in 1980 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. She was with him at stations in North Carolina and Hawaii. They were then divorced. She married Tom Carter on August 15, 1992 at his parent’s mountain home in Boulder County near Pinecliffe. At the time of her marriage to him she wrote, “I met Tom in the summer of ’89 and having him in my life has made a tremendous change for me. He is a wonderful man, my best friend, great companion – I love him so much. I like domestic things, like cooking, baking and keeping our little home a happy one. I have a wide variety of interests, ranging from fishing to motorcycles and loving animals too. I hope one day to be an author of children’s books, like Dr. Seuss.” Unfortunately, Jeanne was never able to fulfill that dream, with so many of her days filled with pain and suffering. But she enjoyed a funny story and her bubbly laughter cheered many a soul along life’s way. Jeanne is survived by her husband, Tom; mother, Shirley J. Baker of Denver; sister, Mary of Ketchikan, Alaska; brother, Mark of Denver; brother, Joe of Dunkirk, Maryland; mother-in-law, Dee Carter of Westminster; and her present canine companion, black lab, Tucker. She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph B. Kowalczyk, who died in Brighton in 2000 and a brother, Michael, who died in California in 1987.
