Jeanette Purvis of O’Fallon, Ill., 100, departed this life on Saturday, February 10, 2007. Jeanette was born on January 16, 1907, in Arkansas to the union of Tom & Savannah, nee Gipson, Hulett. Jeanette celebrated her 100th birthday recently at Covenant Care of O’Fallon. She lived most of her life in Chicago, Ill. where she was the supervisor of housekeeping at O’Hara Airport and was also a beautician. Jeanette enjoyed going to the race track and also entertaining her club members, which have preceded her in death. Jeanette’s first husband Willie Scoby preceded her in death. To this union, one son, Rudolph, was born.
Jeanette met and remarried the love of her life, Johnny Purvis, who also preceded her in death. Jeanette leaves to mourn her loss, her only son Rudolph & Verneter Scoby of O’Fallon, Ill., a granddaughter Sharon Dianne Scoby of Edwardsville, Ill., 2 sisters, Minnie Walker of Seattle, Washington and Josephine Hulett of Youngstown, Ohio, step-grandson Harold & Wendy Gregory and son Joshua Gregory of Shiloh, Ill., 2 nieces, Ernestine & Roosevelt Taylor of Fairview Heights, Ill and Virginia Clinton of Chicago, Ill, several great-nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
