Jeanette Peter, age 89, of Algona, passed away Saturday October 17, 2015 at the Kossuth County Regional Health Center.
Jeanette Wilhelmena Peter, the daughter of Edward and Tena (TerBeek) Johnson, was born on July 30, 1926 in Thompson, Iowa. She graduated from Thompson High School in 1944 and continued her education at Luther College.
Jeanette was united in marriage to Harold Peter on June 29, 1952 in Thompson, Iowa. Jeanette taught for Lakota, Rake and Algona school districts. Jeanette loved gardening, cross stitching, embroidering, cooking, baking and spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran League, RSVP and Legion Auxilary. Jeanette was involved with the Democratic Party, was a troop leader for Girl Scouts and volunteered for 4H.
Jeanette is survived by her husband of 63 years, Harold of Algona; children, Lisa (Joseph Kenneally) Howard of Kennebunk, ME, Lori (Robert) Goulder of Huntersville, NC, Lynn (Manuel) Montanez of Coto De Caza, CA and Harold Paul (Siri) Peter of Waverly, MN; ten grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Ervin Johnson.
