Jeanette Neels Elsloo was born on March 7, 1912 to Tunis and Annie (Swank) Neels at Oskaloosa, Iowa. She passed away Sunday, November 16, 2008 at the Pella Hospice Comfort House at the age of ninety-six.
As a small child, Jeanette moved with her parents to the Lynnville-Sully area. She graduated from the Sully Christian Grade School and attended Sully High School. Later she moved back to Oskaloosa with her parents. She worked at the Greeve Floral Company until her marriage to Timothy Elsloo on February 11, 1932.
Jeanette and Tim began their married life farming in the Oskaloosa area. To this union three children were born: Dorothy Ann, Eunice Arlene, and Timothy Jr. Her husband, Tim, passed away June 29, 1962. She then moved to Pella, Iowa, where she worked at the Rolscreen Company for almost nineteen years.
On June 21, 1975 Jeanette was united in marriage with Leonard J. Gosselink. Leonard passed away on August 28, 1991.
Those left to cherish her memory are: her two daughters and their husbands, Dorothy Ann and Marvin Eugene Nunnikhoven, Eunice Arlene and John Edward De Joode; and a daughter-in-law, Mary Doris Elsloo. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law: William Veldhuizen and Bill Gosselink; and sister-in-law: Leona Ter Louw.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her two husbands; a son, Timothy Jr.; two grandchildren in infancy, Martha Nunnikhoven and Arlen Dean De Joode; her brother, Leonard; and three sisters: Nellie (Mrs. Bill Veldhuizen), Wilma (Mrs. Ed Veldhuizen), and Irene (Mrs. Ray Settle.)
