Passed away Thursday, December 17, 2020 at the age of 81. She was born in Kalamazoo, May 24, 1939, the daughter of Harry and Ethel (Bargo) Leversee. Jean adored children and was a mother/ “Grandma Jean” to many. Family was most important to her, as well as her daycare children and her church family at Lake Center Bible Church. Jean enjoyed cooking and baking for all her family and friends.

Throughout her life, Jean accomplished and did many things. Some most notable were her master’s in music that she received from WMU as well obtaining her private pilot’s license. She taught accordion as well as piano. Jean, alongside her late husband, built, owned, and operated Kalamazoo Aviation, which is now Kalamazoo Air Zoo and Museum. In addition to all that, she also worked for Meijer, was a secretary/accountant and also a bank teller.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and former husband, Robert E. Gustafson. Surviving Jean are her children; Robin (Jonathan) Tullock, Robert (Rebecca) Gustafson, and Tami (Michael) Ziegler. Also surviving are her grandchildren; Christopher (Christina) Maze, Heather Maze, Krystal Jordan, Joshua Tullock, Amber Ziegler, Austin Ziegler, Tiffany (Trevor) Galbraith, Robert Gustafson, Logan Gustafson, and great grandchildren; Anthony Maze, Nathin Nelson, Addison Galbraith, Emery Galbraith, Sarah Hall, Lexi Jordan, McKenzie Jordan and Spencer Gustafson. Jean’s only sister Cheri (Mick) Bouchard also survives her, along with her niece and nephew, Renee (Cody) Flagg and Jeffrey Bouchard.
