Jean Marie Kostelecky, 89, of Galesburg, died Friday at 8:55 am on May 31, 2019 at Seminary Manor, Galesburg.J
ean was born December 29, 1929 at home in Stark County, North Dakota the daughter of Nicodemus E. and Genevieve (Laufer) Frank. Jean married Walter W. Kostelecky on June 7, 1950 in Sheffield, ND. He preceded her in death on June 23, 2006. Jean is survived by two sons, Terry of Houston, TX and Mark (Doris) of Galveston, TX; one daughter, Kim (Andy) Rosencrans of St. Charles; and a daughter in law, JoAnne of Billings, MT. Jean is also survived by nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; one brother, Roger (Debbie) Frank of Afton, MN; and five sisters, Rosaline Coleman of Denver, CO, Sister Loretta Frank of Maryknoll, NY, Nancy Ender of Brownsville, MN, Anita Frank of Rochester, MN, and Regina Frank of Billings, MT. Along with her parents and husband, Jean was preceded in death by two sons, Rodney in 1980 and Kerwin in 2016; and two brothers, Nick and George.
Jean was a devoted homemaker and enjoyed cooking and canning vegetables for family and friends. She was very proud of having graduated from Cosmetology School in Galesburg and worked for a number of years as a hairdresser. Jean loved spending time with her family, playing cards, and working on puzzles. Jean and Walter were devoted members of Corpus Christi Church and were active in the St. Vincent DePaul Society. Jean was also a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. They were charter members of the Western Illinois Antique Auto Club and enjoyed traveling to spend time with their family.
