Jean Marie Dempster, 82, of Bristol, died at 3:27 a.m. Sunday (July 13, 2008) in Elkhart General Hospital.
She was born Feb. 14, 1926, in Elkhart to Thaddeus J. and Abbey E. (Carvell) Walters. On Nov. 28, 1946, she married Arthur W. Dempster in Elkhart. He died April 10, 2005, in Elkhart.
Mrs. Dempster is survived by two sons, Ronald K. Dempster of Three Rivers, Mich., and William (Linda) Dempster of Bristol; one daughter, Monda (Joseph) Fields of Elkhart; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one brother, Roger (Beverly) Walters of Elkhart.
She was preceded in death by five sisters, Dorothy Tripple, Margaret Mercer, Bernice Cain, Janice Swihart and Donna Hatfield; and four brothers, Lloyd, Robert “Bob”, Chester and Marion “Buss” Walters.
Mrs. Dempster was a machine operator at Taylor Products for 27 years, retiring in 1986. She was a longtime member, greeter and communion steward at Bristol United Methodist Church.
She was a member of the Bristol Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 273 and an avid sports fan who loved Notre Dame and the Chicago Cubs.
