NEW HARTFORD – LAFAVE – Jean Lafave, passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2015 after a long battle with cancer. She was the loving wife of Philip Lafave for 42 years. Born in Colorado Springs, Colorado; the daughter of the late Eugene Paul Delay and Agnes (Lovato) Delay. Jean was a Microbiologist at Winsted Hospital. She was also a communicant at Immaculate Conception Church. She held numerous positions at local and state levels as a strong advocate for public education. She represented New Hartford on the Northwestern Regional #7 Board of Education for over 20 years. During her tenure she held various positions including Chairperson. She lobbied the US Congress for multiple changes in public education as a member of The Connecticut Association of Boards of Education (CABE) for over 10 years. Along with her passion for public education she was also an Adjunct Instructor for 5 years in many science and medical related courses at surrounding community colleges. In addition to her husband, she is survived by; two sons, Greg Lafave and wife Angelina and Marc Lafave and wife Kelly; four grandchildren, Ethan, Rylan, Kristen and Natalie.
