Jean Kathleen McGuire, 48 years young, of LaSalle, passed away Sunday, October 24, 2021, surrounded by her family, at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington. Jean was born March 7, 1973 in Springfield to James and Joan (Feld) McGuire. She was the youngest of four siblings.
Jean was a loving sister to Jim (Lynn) McGuire, Elaine (Rick) Robinson and Tom McGuire; the much loved girlfriend of Dan “DT” Turczyn and a unique and fun aunt to Patrick McGuire, James McGuire, Maria Robinson, Sarah Robinson, Matt Robinson, Zach McGuire, Hallie McGuire, Ashley Lampe and Andrew Smith.Jean graduated from St. Bede Academy, Peru and from Illinois State University in Normal with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education.
Jean loved teaching 4th grade and was a creative and kind teacher who took great pride in making each student feel special. She engaged students by sharing her passion for reading and motivating students to try new things, take risks and make mistakes.It is hard to sum up a lifetime of Jean memories in a few short paragraphs. She has left countless meaningful and happy memories for those who knew and loved her. She had a wonderfully dry wit and was warm, spirited, fearless and resilient.
Jean showed up when it mattered, had your back, gave to those in need if she could and loved to defend and stand up for her loved ones. She also loved the Chicago White Sox, devouring most any book, cooking for friends and family and caring for her pets, Charlie and Taz. Most recently substitute teaching, she could also be found at the Farmer’s Market, taking notes in her always present journal, gardening, canning, and most often, laughing with her large group of friends.
Jean will be forever remembered and deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to know her. She was preceded in death by her parents; her maternal and paternal grandparents and several cousins.
