Jean G. Owens, age 81 of Newnan, passed gently from her earthly life on February 14, 2012. Jean was born in Houston County, Georgia to the late Theron & Ruby (Bishop) Griffin. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her, husband, Harvey Lewis “Pop” Owens and her sister, Annette Eubanks. Jean graduated in 1950 from The Georgia Baptist School of Nursing. She worked for a while at Newnan Hospital and also for Dr. Buddy Owens before joining the staff of The PAPP Clinic. She quickly became that calm and reassuring voice on the phone for the countless numbers of patients she helped as she worked for Dr. “B” – Dr. W. Earnest Barron. Her career at PAPP Clinic continued for 41 years. Jean was a loyal member of Central Baptist Church. Over the many years that she and “Pop” shared together, they both enjoyed their church, their many friends and family members, and a common love for travel. She was a woman of determination and strong spirit which served her well up to the very end of this earthly journey. She is survived by her son, Walter N. “Bim” Bellisle, Jr. and his wife Donna; daughter, Sue Owens Ragan and her husband Rob. Her stepchildren; Randy Owens and his wife Janie, Sherri Bilski and her husband Don. She is also survived by, four grandchildren, Laura Bellisle Rainey, Andrew Bellisle, Will Ragan and Matthew Ragan. She was fortunate to have been able to welcome her great grandchild Carson Rainey who was born on January 27th. Her surviving sister is Barbara Eltrich & her husband Marty . Her niece is Ashlyn Robinson; nephews, David Eubanks and his wife Kim and Martin “Chip” Eltrich & his wife Misty. There are six step-grandchildren. Also surviving is her brother-in-law Reed Eubanks.
