Jean E. Allen, 69, of Meredosia, died Sunday, June 8, 2014, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. She was born on Dec. 2, 1944, in Meredosia, the daughter of Albert and Clara Floyd Dunmire. She married George M. Allen on Feb. 28, 1964, in Jacksonville and he survives.
She is also survived by her daughter, Georgianna (Charles) Sides of Meredosia; her grandchildren, Carlie Sides of Jacksonville and Shiloh Sides of Meredosia; three brothers and two sisters, Loren “Butch” (Sandy) Dunmire of Meredosia, Terry (Pati) Dunmire of Murrayville, Judy (Mike) Snyder of Versailles, Edward Dunmire of Pittsfield and Susan (Mike) Colwell of Jacksonville; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Randy Dunmire, in infancy.
Mrs. Allen was a 1962 graduate of Meredosia-Chambersburg High School. She was a member of Meredosia Church of Christ. Jean was an avid bingo player, and she especially loved caring for her grandchildren.
