Jean Duffy
Waterford, CT – Jean Ann Duffy, 89, daughter of the late Francis V. and Mary (Courtney) Duffy died on June 27th, at the William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, CT. She was predeceased by her sister, M. Eileen Kelleher and brothers, Hugh V. and Francis P. Duffy and was a beloved aunt to nephew Michael F. Kelleher of Maryland, nieces Mary Courtney Kelleher of Ct, Edwina Duffy of Pa, Deborah Knecht and Barbara Chemidlin of N.J., Sara Ann Klemmer and Colleen Halloran of Mass, Jane Sobolov of NH, Deirdre Delmonte and Elaine Grimm of NY, Joyanne Simpson of Florida and Kathleen Belinga of SC as well as to numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews. Surviving also is sister-in-law, Dorothy (Dooley) Duffy of New Jersey. Throughout life, Jean was sustained by cherished friends, her faith, and a family to whom she always gave and received much love.
Jean attended St. Angela Hall and Manhattanville College and resided in Brooklyn, Manhattan and Bronxville, NY as well as Stonington, Norwich and Waterford, Ct. She retired after many years with Double-Dell Publishing in Manhattan. Volunteer work occupied her wherever she lived including at Westerly Hospital and Backus Hospital, and as a driver for Meals On Wheels and American Cancer Society’s Road to Recovery Program.
