Jean A. (Krumscheid) Greening, 63, of Peru passed away at 8:13 AM Wednesday, September 15, 2010, at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Mrs. Greening was born April 30, 1947, at St. Mary’s Hospital in LaSalle, a daughter of August and Catherine (Musich) Krumscheid.

She married James Greening on December 27, 1991, at Zion United Church of Christ in Peru. Mrs. Greening attended the Oak Park School of Nursing from 1965 to 1968 and graduated valedictorian. She was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force Reserves having served as a nurse in Alaska during the Vietnam War. She was retired from nursing having served at St. Margarets Hospital, the Illinois Valley Red Cross for 23 years, and the LaSalle County Health Department for eight years. Mrs. Greening was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ in Peru where she was involved in the Women’s Guild, Wedding Band, the Board of Christian Education, the Sewing Group, and was the director of Vacation Bible School, and was a Sunday School teacher. She also belonged to the Ya-Ya Sisters.

Survivors include her husband, Jim; three children, Brian (Kristy) Goff of Cincinnati, OH, Julie Rietgraf of Utica, and Michael (Jessica) Goff of San Diego, CA; five grandchildren, Savanna and Noah Rietgraf, Francie, and A.J. Goff and Harper Goff and one sister, Barbara (Alan) Jozwiak of Hanover Park, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
