On July 6, 1961, Jay Douglas Michel was born in North Platte, Nebraska to Lawanna Leigh Hill and Jimmy Eddie Michel. His siblings are Debra, Jim, Julie, and Dee. In his early adult life, he caught an interest in snow skiing which led him to Breckenridge, Colorado. Soon after, he met and married Stacy Massa. They had three children together while they were married. Hope, Austin, and Mackenzie. Jay was known for his extroverted personality. He seemed to make friends wherever he went. He had such strong love and loyalty for the people in his life. He was resourceful, intelligent, and dedicated.
He loved to be outside. Among his many pastimes, he enjoyed fishing, ATV’ing, riding his Harley, hiking, camping, and most prominently in the last three years playing pool. He also loved German chocolate cake, Mountain Dew, Hot Tamales and classic rock. He was a hard worker probably known by many in the Colorado Springs community. He did HVAC, construction, plumbing, remodeling, welding and wood-working.
Unfortunately he passed sooner than his three grandchildren, Jordyn, Anastasia, and Marlowe could meet him. His absence leaves a hole in our hearts but he will live on through the many memories of everybody who once knew him. He is loved and missed. Rest in paradise.
