July 29, 1948 – August 2, 2022
Jay Dee Black, age 74 of Fayette, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2022.
Jay Dee Black was born on July 29, 1948 in Fayette, Alabama. He graduated from Fayette County High School in 1967. He was chosen “Class Prophet” and voted “Most Laziest” and “Most Mischievous” by his classmates. Upon graduating, he attended trade school where he received an electronic certification. He enlisted into the National Guard, where he served a six year term. He was a member for over 40 years at Fayette First Baptist. He loved God, and his church family.
He had a love for tractors, farm equipment, and trading. He remained self-employed during his years of employment. He enjoyed meeting new people, and never met a stranger. He was an avid Fayette Tigers supporter, and an even more Alabama Football fan. Nobody knew Alabama football like him. He was and will always be known as the oldest living teenager in Fayette. His love for entertaining, attending senior trips and football games was the inevitable. He had an aggravating side that was always followed, with a heart of gold that brought smiles to all faces. He sure knew how to make you laugh. He left an impression of memories for a lifetime with everyone who knew him. Fayette will deeply miss him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James H. Black and Allie V. Williams Black; sister, Faye Black Vaughn; brother, Larry Black.
He is survived by his brothers, Michael Black, Joe (Becky) Black, Jimmy (Linda) Black; and other survivors include nieces, nephews, and cousins.
