Jay Alan Smith, 65, of West Terre Haute passed away at his home surrounded by family on March 9, 2021.  He was born on January 3, 1956 to Eugene Francis Smith “Gene” and Alice Gertrude (Pruitt) Smith “Tootie.”  Jay is preceded in death by both parents.  He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Kelly; sons Jayson Smith (Amy) and Michael Smith; daughters Kristina “Teenie” Burger (Coty) and Kylie Sparks (Brad); brothers Gary E. Smith (Jerri) and Ronnie T. Smith (Ida); sister Nancy Pearson (Mark) grandchildren Kaitelen (Chad), Ally (AJ),Madalyn (John) (Lisa), Karyzma, Tiffany, Kara, Jacob, and Luka; great-grandchildren Avah, Melanie, Bonnie, Crew, and William as well as several nieces and nephews.  Jay started Midwest Custom Vans in 1979, which later became Midwest RV. Jay was extremely proud of Midwest RV as it became a well-known family business.  He was always grateful for his customers whom he built great relationships with.  Jay was also a member of the American Legion.  He loved his corvette, as well as art.  He enjoyed drawing and painting.  Jay loved to gamble, traveling and seeing the country, the Indianapolis Colts, but more than anything he loved his family.
