Jasper “Jake” G. Moore, 90, went home to the Lord on March 25, 2015 to be with his beautiful wife Helen of almost 70 years who passed away September 3,2013.

Jake was born May 19, 1924 in Sherwood, Oklahoma to Frank and Fay Moore. At age 19, he met the love of his life, Helen, who was 18. They were married in Idabel, OK on April 22, 1944. Jake played guitar in a band with his uncle.

In 1944 they moved to Portland, OR where he tried to join the Coast Guard, but a heart murmur prevented it. He went to work in the shipyards as a Certified Welder, working on the “horse collars” (or anchor holes) of U.S. Navy ships. In 1945 with the war ending and shipyards shutting down they moved to Lone Park, AZ where Jake got a job with Saginaw Manistee Logging.

In 1945 they moved their two room home to Happy Jack, AZ. Jake added a living room to the house and another bedroom for his children. That was home until 1958 when they moved to Flagstaff. Jake continued working for Saginaw/Southwest Forest Industries for 36 years. With enormous passion for big trucks he became a master mechanic. His life was about working hard and 100% commitment to his family. He was loved by Family and Friends for joke/story telling. At the age of 88 he was climbing on his roof trimming trees.

Jake is survived by children Sandra (Silas) Hill of Delta Jct., Alaska, Gail (Reggie)Yancey-Sanchez of Cave Creek, AZ and Keith (Debbie) Moore of Flagstaff, 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren.

Forever loved, forever remembered and forever missed.
