Jasper A. Brouwer, age 98, of DeMotte, Indiana, passed away on Friday, January 15, 2021 at the Rensselaer Care Center.
Jasper was the eldest of 8 children, born at home on December 1, 1922 in Inwood, Iowa, the son of Arie and Gertie (Brands) Brouwer. On February 15, 1944, he married Berniece Halbersma. They were married almost 70 years before she preceded him in death on December 7, 2013.
Jasper farmed for many years in the Edgerton, Minnesota area before moving to Indiana in March of 1966. He continued in farm-related activities before establishing his own business, Brouwer Trucking. He retired in 2010. Jasper was a member of the American Reformed Church.
Jasper is survived by his son, Jon A. Brouwer of Rensselaer, IN; 4 daughters: Barbara (D. Robert) Melcher of Stockton, IL; Bonita “Bonnie” (Marvin) VanKley of Kokomo, IN; Beverly “Bev” (John) Jungels of Rensselaer, IN; Beth Brouwer of DeMotte, IN; 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 3 sisters-in-law. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 6 brothers and one sister, one daughter-in-law, one great-grandchild, 2 sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law.
