Jason James Espinoza, 42, of Elkhart, passed away Sunday morning, July 20, from injuries from a motor vehicle accident.
Jason was born on Jan. 17, 1972, in Goshen to Rudy I. Espinoza and Janet (Pletcher) O’Brien.
Jason leaves to cherish his memory a son, Caine (Melanie) Espinoza of Chicago; daughter Kennedy Espinoza of Union, Mich.; and father Rudy I. Espinoza, mother and stepfather Janet (Kevin) O’Brien, loving brother Kasey (Tina) O’Brien, sister Kelly Espinoza; and his companion, Angela Hiner, all of Elkhart. Jason also leaves many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who all loved him as well.
He was preceded in death by grandparents Harley and Pauline Pletcher, James and Virginia O’Brien and Ignacio and Tila Castañeda.
Jason was working as a group leader for Syndicate Systems in Middlebury, with over 24 years of service. He was a 1990 graduate of Goshen High School. Jason was a member and a mentor to many at AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) and was proud of being sober for over seven years and continuing his sobriety.
He was an avid Notre Dame fan and NASCAR fan with No. 48, Jimmy Johnson, being his favorite driver. He enjoyed hunting, spending time with his family and tinkering around with new projects. He took pride in his children’s accomplishments and always took an interest in their interests. Jason was always ready to help a friend or family member in need.
