Jason “Jay” Bleuer, 59 of West Bend died Sunday, July 12, 2015 at the Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg. Jay was born November 15, 1955 in Sioux City, Iowa, to Rolland and Beatrice (Mertz) Bleuer. He grew up in West Bend with his family and graduated from West Bend High School in 1974. He then attended Truck and Diesel Mechanic school at Northwestern College in Sheldon, graduating in 1976. Jay was employed by Ruan Transport in Des Moines until 1980. He farmed until the year 2000 and then went to work at West Bend Ford until 2005. Jay started working for the West Bend-Mallard school in 2006 until his recent retirement in 2015.
Jay and his “chicken crew” were proud to cook for many parties and get togethers. He was an avid Nascar fan, following Dale Earnhardt for years and then following Kevin Harvick. He was a member of the West Bend Fire Dept. for 20 years, five of those years serving as Captain. Jay loved his pickups and enjoyed spending time washing and cleaning them. Survivors include his father Rolland Bleuer of West Bend, daughter Michelle (Paul) Cortese of Browns Mills, NJ, sister Julie (Mark) Froneberger of Raymore, MO, brother Robert (Kelly) Bleuer of Ottosen, 2 grandchildren, 8 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews. Jay was preceded in death by his mother, Beatrice in 2004.
