Janis L. Skoog, 82, of 1415 Keller Avenue, died Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at The Gatehouse Hospice.

Janis’s husband, John W. Skoog, died December 5, 2008.

Janis was an active member of St. Paul-Calvary United Methodist Church, a former treasurer and substitute organist.

Janis was a graduate of the Williamsport High School and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Teaching and a Master’s Degree in Biology at Bucknell University. She was a member of the Alpha Phi Sorority.

Janis was an active member of Eastern Star Chapter 500 and the Grand Chapter. She was also active within her community.

Janis had taught for a few years then became a case worker for the former Lycoming Assoc.

Born September 28, 1929 in Williamsport, she was the daughter of Herbert S. and Florence Packer Crider.

Surviving are sons, John H. (Anne) Skoog and Donald W. Skoog both of Williamsport; step brother, Harry (Betty) Salmon of State College; granddaughter, Missy Skoog and a great grandson, Aden.

Janis was predeceased by a son, Scott A. Skoog.
